Over the last 24 years, the two-day in-person Deloitte Shared Services Conference has become a “must attend” event for leaders in the industry. In November 2021, we were responsible for transforming it into a one-day hybrid event for 500 in-person C-Suite clients, partners and prospects and over 1,000 virtual delegates.

This challenge came at a time when the business world was searching for ways to create impactful connections within their network. The goal was to ‘wow’ the audience and connect the delegates to one another efficiently by delivering innovative engagement sessions and creating a dynamic, sustainable and technologically advanced conference. We utilised a few different strategies to ensure the hybrid conference responded efficiently to the ever-changing landscape and packed a punch. We used an open-plan model, designed with in-person and virtual delegate engagement as the focus. We had a focal 360° wrap-around theatre, live SSC studio, exhibition area and lounge space combined with state-of-the-art technology and innovative audiovisual touchpoints creating a truly immersive experience for all delegates. Particularly impactful - the ‘SSC Studio’ created a new energised link with the virtual audience, acting as an anchor to take them through the day, offering a variety of interactive experiences and unique content. Sponsors' showcases were integrated into the in-person and virtual experience, encouraging engagement with the audiences. SSC 2021 was the first large-scale hybrid experience to take place within the sector and it stood out. Sponsors saw ROI through an incredibly active on-site sponsor network with over 890 leads generated, virtual delegates from over 39 countries, over 2,400 main session views and an 86% delegate rating.
