Agency: The Business Narrative, Allegory Communications, Philpott Design
Faced with a myriad of challenges, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and widespread screen fatigue, the 2020 ODI Summit distinguished itself as innovative, diverse and thought-provoking. We were ambitious with our objectives; setting out to create an experiential event bigger and more inclusive than ever before and cement the ODI’s position as a leading authority on all aspects of data.
The ODI and partner agencies delivered a fluid, intuitive user experience, combining compelling and creative pre-recorded content with traditional live debates and keynote speakers. ODI’s pivotal flagship report, produced by Allegory, explored the impact of lockdown on children’s education and was launched at the Summit, to guarantee that journalists were interested and engaged with our offering.
A unifying and consistent approach to brand, with a bold yet simple visual identity, ensured that content had centre stage. Our creative agency Philpott Design developed the user-experience, striking visuals and backdrops, providing cohesion between speakers. Event specialists The Business Narrative designed our diverse and exciting programme, including two stages and various ‘fringe’ events, and produced the event.
As a result of our efforts, the ODI Summit had higher levels of engagement than ever before, achieving an average 9 out of 10 rating from delegates. It was also the ODIs biggest, most inclusive event with 1,071 people attending, a 260% increase from 2019; 3.9 million reached through tweets and 1,500 people posting using the ODI Summit hashtag. Our Summit also had global outreach, with 74 speakers from five continents and delegates from 72 countries.
Along with generating new business opportunities, including 30 new business and partnership leads and 1,250+ enquiries for ODI learning courses, our Summit also had tangible outcomes; the March 2021 follow-up flagship report, a collaboration between the ODI and the NASUWT, demonstrates the influence the Summit wielded.
