Agency: Live Union
This is the story of how a business pivoted to virtual for the first time and as a result achieved a more inclusive experience. It’s a journey that has changed how they view employee events.
Veolia is the UK leader in resource management, providing waste, water and energy services. The annual in-person conference for 350 employees had been planned for early 2021, the pandemic caused this to be disrupted and Live Union were approached to create a virtual experience.
Live Union’s brief was to create a one-day experience communicating Veolia’s future direction. The overarching objective was inclusivity - bringing together more people, but more importantly achieving an engaging, rewarding and communal experience.
The solution, produced on Live Union’s Beehive virtual platform, connected over 2,000 employees in a highly inclusive experience. The event was designed so that people could personalise the experience to their specific needs and to give them conversation time with the ExCo. It included many different voices from all parts of the business and stimulated a high level of discussion and engagement.
“The success of Spark’s pivot to virtual has changed how we approach employee events. The benefits to our employees of a more inclusive experience mean that in future years our events will always include the chance to engage virtually.” Emma Weatherby, Head of Internal Communications, Veolia
