Agency: BCD Meetings & Events
The Royal Society is a Fellowship of the world's most eminent scientists and is the oldest scientific academy in continuous existence. As part of its mission to promote scientific excellence, The Royal Society holds a Commonwealth Science Conference every 3-4 years to promote and strengthen collaboration between scientists across the Commonwealth. With COVID-19 sweeping the world, a virtual solution was needed to deliver a complicated 4-day event wrapped around with ongoing opportunities for the global delegates to collaborate on important topics and research projects.
BCD M&E devised and delivered a fully interactive virtual platform that enabled a complex agenda to be achieved through a mix of live and pre-recorded content with multiple breakout sessions, interactive tools and networking opportunities.
Alongside the bespoke virtual platform, BCD M&E created an intricate delegate profiling registration process that matched attendees to the most appropriate agenda configuration from the multiple session strands available. It also connected like-minded delegates to support the all-important networking aspect of the event.
It was only by collaborating with scientists and researchers from other countries could attendees submit grant applications for the research funding available after attending the event. This was why the myriad of platform tools and functionality, as well as networking opportunities provided by the team, were integral to the overall event success. This resulted in successful grants being made at a fraction of the cost of previous face to face meetings.
The Royal Society were delighted that the event exceeded many expectations of what a virtual meeting could achieve in terms of both the participants’ experience and the ability to create an interactive programme with networking opportunities for delegates based around the world. 92% rated their overall experience as good or excellent and continued to utilise the platform and tools for a full month post event.
